On the other hand, the leaders who get power through people become accountable to them. Elections also plays a vital role in strengthening the democratic values of a country. Furthermore, it makes sure that the Government is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Election gives people the right to cast votes according to their own will and opinion. This way, a huge responsibility lies on the people as well to choose the right person to vote. A voter has to be above a certain age limit so he would have the capability to understand who deserves his vote. The other important characteristic of the election is ‘Nomination’. It is a process in which certain individuals are being chosen for election. Moreover, the electoral system is another essential characteristic of elections. It refers to a set of rules and the entire voting system.

Nominators of election compete with each other by arranging various campaigns to shape the point of view of certain groups. They try to convince more and more individuals and present their agendas to them to influence their decisions. Then comes the most important step of elections i.e. tally of votes. A lot of counting systems help serve the purpose. Moreover, there are two common electoral systems, proportional and majoritarian, to determine the results. The Government is responsible to organize the electoral system properly to end up with fair results.

Election has a huge significance as it also helps improve the political conditions of a country. However, the use of votes must be based on valid reasons to choose the right leaders. The perception or mindset of a leader also plays a huge role as most of the people cast votes based on them. So, people should be able to use their will power while selecting a particular political party instead of getting influenced by other people or external elements. The best part about elections is that people have the power to remove the leaders they are not happy with. After a fixed interval, the electoral system will complete its cycle. That is when people can rethink their previous choice to be able to make a better and informed decision this time.

Moreover, it helps keep the power of the elected leaders in check so it becomes difficult for them to use their ranks or positions for their benefits. On the other hand, it makes the general public responsible for making a sensible and wise choice. The need of the hour is to realize the value of elections and use it positively to make a difference in the world. Also, every single individual who is eligible of casting a vote must come out to use this right on the day of the election.
