Cancer is one of the most feared and common diseases that is responsible for more than 9.5 million deaths around the world every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is the second leading cause of death. In some regions of the world, almost 1500 people are dying to cancer every day. These statistics can leave anyone astonished and worried about the future. Moreover, the number of cancer is continuously increasing, that makes it even scarier. We must look at the types, causes, and treatment of cancer to be able to apprehend it completely.

Cancer exists in so many types and forms. It is a name that is given to a lot of diseases. When a person has cancer, a specific type of cells in his body starts dividing rapidly. These cells are unstoppable as they spread into the surrounding tissues causing tumors. The cells of the affected area keep breaking and going into other parts of the body to form more tumors. This way, it can affect any organ of the body in a few days. So, there are various types of cancer that we have come across, e.g. lung cancer, blood cancer, stomach cancer, skin cancer, and so many others. We can divide cancer into five main types precisely, i.e. lymphoma, carcinoma, leukemia, melanoma, and sarcoma.

When it comes to identifying the cause of cancer, it is not possible to pinpoint it. The main thing that can develop cancer in the human body is known as ‘Carcinogens’. However, it depends upon the multiple physical, biological, and lifestyle-related factors that how cancer enters the body and spread into various parts of it. Physical factors include the exposure to gamma rays, or X-rays while the biological factors refer to hereditary factors, type of blood, gender, age, genes, and skin type etc. And lifestyle-related factors refer to the use of the substances that develop cancer in the body. These substances will include tobacco, alcohol, Ultraviolet radiations, and smoke etc.

Unlike the old age, there are different treatments of cancer available now. Early diagnosis and immediate medical care have an immense significance that can help get rid of cancer. It becomes a lot easier now to treat cancer, especially when it is diagnosed at the earlier stage. The most common treatments of cancer include chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy; however, each type has its side effects. Chemotherapy is a way to kill cancer by injecting the patient with drugs. However, surgery helps remove the mass from the body that has tumor. In radiation therapy, radiations are used to target the affected area to kill the cancer cells.

In a nutshell, cancer is a severe disease, so people need to have awareness regarding it. It has different types, causes, and treatments that we must know about in detail. It will also help diagnose the disease in its earlier stage to save the lives of millions of people who die because of the lack of awareness, insufficient knowledge, or improper treatment and care in the hospitals.
