Example essay on my city Istanbul

Istanbul is known for both its history and culture. It is also unique the way it connects both Asia and Europe. If you ever have a chance to visit Turkey, you would definitely get to know about Istanbul which is its most crowded and largest city. The estimated amount of people living in Istanbul is more than 14 million. Since it is the place I live in, I definitely know more about this than anyone else who comes to visit it once in a while.

Takism

As Istanbul is known for its history as well, Taksim is one of the best places which truly depict its historical side. You would find a lot of ancient mosques and churches there. The place has long roads with a lot of shops so you might find a lot of unique and different items there. Moreover, there are a lot of restaurants from which you can go to the one you personally like or adore. If you visit the same place at night, it would give you the chance to have an entirely different experience by enjoying in Discos, Bars, and Night Clubs.

Galata Tower

There are other areas downhill from Taksim which are considered to be the neighborhoods of Beyoglu and Karakoy. You would love the famous Galata tower there which gives a stunning view from its top. However, there are not any safety bars or crowd control measures which can disturb anyone who has a fear of heights. Moreover, you would see many hotels, boutiques, museums, wine tasting shops, and other quirky shops. It depends upon you whether you want to enjoy the underneath side of the bridge or the vibes from its top.

Top Kapi Palace

Top Kapi Palace is another famous and adorable place in Istanbul where you must go. It has a huge collection of different halls which have served the purpose of being an administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. You would also find a lot of museums there which are displaying armor, weapons, and daily objects used in the age of Sultans. You can also enjoy a good lunch or dinner there in addition to exploring its history and culture.

Hagia Sofia

Another historical place of Istanbul is Hagia Sofia which is known for the temple of wisdom and has a fountain in its middle. This building was completely constructed in 537 A.D. while the length of the dome is 184 feet which makes it the largest church in the world. It is considered to be a symbol of the Christian world in the Roman Empire. Talking about the architectural style and features of Hagia Sofia, it has used the new technology and the latest designs while holding the traditional theme at the same time.

Long story short, Istanbul is the perfect combination of an old and modern world where any human would love to live. Also, I would like to quote the famous saying about Istanbul here, “If the whole world was one country, Istanbul would be its capital.”
