Essay on the Importance of Discipline
Discipline refers to something that keeps an individual or a system in control. It encourages people to achieve their goals and have meaningful purposes in life. It has different forms that everyone must follow to live their dreams and ambitions. However, everyone has their own perspective of the discipline. Some people realize the worth of discipline and consider it a significant part of their lives. On the other hand, some people just don’t buy the idea of having discipline in life.
The importance of discipline cannot be denied as it affects our lives in a lot more ways than we can even imagine. A person without discipline becomes dull and boring. However, if a person is disciplined, he can make a productive routine schedule to follow. Also, such people live in the most sophisticated way that attracts others towards them. We get to face a lot of difficulties in life but those who are disciplined enough are most probably going to handle the situation more effectively than those who are not. We need discipline in our lives to implement the plans we make. So, it leads a person to success and huge achievements that he wishes for.
There are mainly two types of discipline and both are equally impactful. The first one is known as ‘Self-Discipline’ that comes from within. It is something that we learn from ourselves. All the moral values, lessons, and etiquettes, we develop throughout our learning phase of life help us become a disciplined person. However, the second type is ‘Induced Discipline’ that we learn from others. It depends upon the people whom we choose to stay around. Their learning phases and experiences help us develop discipline in our lives. So, we must be very careful while making friends, choosing our significant others, roommates, and everyone else who gets to share our space with us.
Moreover, discipline is required at every stage of life. For a student, the meaning and definition of discipline will be different than an employed person. But for everyone, it requires a lot of dedication and hard work to live a disciplined life. There are numerous advantages of discipline that motivate people to stay strict to it. For instance, a disciplined individual is less likely to get distracted from his goal. Also, discipline educates our minds regarding the rules and regulations to be a good human being and citizen. Even in professional life, a disciplined person might have greater opportunities than the undisciplined one. Such a person would also make a positive impression on whoever he meets.
In a nutshell, discipline is the key element of a successful and fulfilling life. A strictly disciplined person would have a healthy routine and approach that can further help him achieve success in life. We should also keep an eye on others around us to make sure that they help us develop discipline in a way or another. If we don’t have discipline in our lives, we will fail to become both a positive personality and a responsible citizen.
